This week in Year 6 have been looking at Self-Control as one of the Fruits of the Spirit.
We looked at the definition of self-control and how we could best display it. We set up some scenarios and carried out some role play. We also discussed the time when Jesus was tempted in the Wilderness and showed an abundance of self-control.
This week has been the first full week of school for the new Reception children! They have been exploring their new environment and resources and learning the rules and routines of school.
Well done to the children for doing so well on their first week!
In RE, Year 1 have been exploring ‘patience’ – one of the Fruits of the Spirit. We thought about what patiences means to us. We know we have to be patience and wait for a lot of things such as lining up, sharing toys and taking in turns in speak.
We have been practising being patience and looked at different times we have to be patience. We thought about things we are looking forward to doing in Year 1, and how it cannot happen straight away. We know that we have to work hard and wait nicely for great things to happen!
‘I am looking forward to getting a number wizard award.’ Yusaf

‘I am looking forward to making lots of things in the creative area.’ Eesa
Year 5 are learning the poem ‘Silver’ by Walter de la Mare and practicing reciting and using different intonations, rhythms and volume.
We also discussed the author’s use of poetic devices and vocabulary. We used some of these skills to write our own description of the images from the poem.
What a wonderful start to the new term for Year 3. This has been a very busy week getting to know each other and the teachers – Miss Groom & Miss Begum.
During our week we have spent lots of time learning our new routines as it seems everything has changed over the summer! From going upstairs, locating our lockers, a later break time and lunchtime, remembering to bring our own healthy snacks and walking very smartly and quietly around the school.
Year 3 have been discussing kindness and what it means to them. Some children wrote acrostic poems and others wrote prayers to express their understanding.
Welcome to Year 4! During our first week back at school, we have been discussing the fruit of the spirit and how we can show these qualities in our school life. We thought about all the ways we could show love to our friends and families and used these ideas to write a poem about the meaning of love.
Peace has many meanings and we talked about how the word can be used to mean quiet and hush as well as calm and serenity. We then wrote a recipe to achieve peace in our own hearts.
Year 1 have settled into their classroom and routines amazingly! They have really enjoyed their first week getting to know their new teachers and exploring their new classroom environment. The children were great at thinking about ideas for our class rules and how to keep safe in school. We have had lots of fun and we are looking forward to what the year brings.
It has been great to have the children back this week, they seem so keen and focused. We were excited to hear we had an International link with a school in India. Today, we have been working hard writing letters to our new friends in India. They also watched a video on New Dehli, the children were keen to make comparisons.
Welcome to Year 5! This week Year 5 have been settling into their new classroom and thinking about aspirations for the coming year.
