During this final week of the year, Year 3 have been working hard with their DT (Design Technology) lessons in order to explore, design and make their own board games.

Year 3 worked collaboratively to play a range of existing  maths games to find out what made a good game and to generate ideas. Afterwards, most children worked with a partner to design and then make their games.

Year 3 then played their games with Year 4 who gave them feedback on what they enjoyed and how they could improve their games.

In science, Year 5 were given a challenge. Children had a range of mysterious materials

and had to investigate them and classify them. They began by making drawings of the materials and looking at their hardness and transparency. They then investigated which materials were magnetic and which conducted electricity before studying a map of Alchemy Island and labelling where they thought the mysterious materials could be found.

Year 4 have been learning about plastic pollution that is destroying our seas and oceans. We researched how plastic is becoming a huge problem all over the world and how it is killing innocent sea creatures. Using out new knowledge we have written newspaper reports to explain the growing problem and how people can help to stop plastic pollution!
