The Three Little Pigs
Water colours and Stonehenge
Y3 have been improving their mastery of their painting techniques with watercolours. Stonehenge provided the inspiration for the watercolour backgrounds and collage foregrounds.
Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe.

Diwali
Year 2 have been thinking about the Diwali festival this week in R.E.
We have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita.
We found out that Sita was kidnapped by the evil demon king, Ravana. Fortunately, Sita left a trail of jewellery so that Rama could find her. Rama had the help of a monkey king called Hanuman who gathered lots of other animals to help rescue Sita. There was a big fight and Ravana was killed. On their way back to their home, people put lights out to guide them back safely. This is why Diwali is the festival of light. During Diwali we think about how light beats darkness and good beats evil.
Leaves
Autumn is here and the leaves have started to fall from the trees.
The children noticed lots of leaves in the playground so we used them to make a leaf collage.
Some children have been bringing in leaves they have found on their way to Nursery. Some of these were perfect for leaf rubbing with wax crayons. The children really enjoyed doing this.
Forest School
This week I have enjoyed getting to know the Year 4 children and helping them explore our Forest School area. It has been lovely to see them using their imaginations, being kind to each other and having fun!
The children are helping me to cut the smaller branches off the larger ones so that they can be used for den building and other activities.
Festival of Light
On October 19th Year 6 have been invited to be part of ‘Diwali a Celebration of Light Festival’ at the Town Hall, Birmingham. We will be singing and taking part in a lantern procession.
In preparation we had a lantern making workshop where we all made our individual lanterns which will hold tea light candles in them.
Computing – Year 2
This week the children worked on following instructions on how to log on and log out of a computer by putting in their user name and password. We then watched a small clip on ‘what is the internet?’
We then discussed with the whole class on what we are going to be doing in computing next term and getting them ready for their first lesson on coding.
Computing – Year 1
Today in computing we talked about how we follow instructions and discussed ‘what is the internet?’ We also went through all the different parts of the computer and discussed each part.
Amazing sculptures in Year 1
This week in Science and Art, we have been learning all about the famous Andy Goldsworthy and his amazing art work. He is a sculptor who creates sculptures out of natural materials. We explored his art work and looked at the different patterns and techniques that he put his art work together. We then collected our own natural materials and made our very own sculptures.
Take a look at our sculptures!
