Mother’s Day

Thank you to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and everyone else who came to our Mother’s Day assembly.

The Reception children really enjoyed singing the songs and loved painting pictures of their mums!

We hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day in Reception

Last week we did lots of work around Mother’s Day. The children all said why they love their mum and painted fabulous pictures of their mums. They also made cards and learnt songs to sing for our assembly.

Thank you to all the mothers, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, and everyone else who attend our celebration on Friday.

We would like to say a special thank you to Mrs Ali for making the delicious cakes!

Happy Mother’s Day!

KS1 have been thinking about their lovely mums and all of the amazing things that they do for us. To celebrate them this week, we had an assembly where we told our mums how much we loved them.

Year 2 sang some songs while their fantastic mums treated themselves to some tea and cake. Then we recited a special poem all about how much they mean to us.

The children were so enthusiastic and all of the mums seemed to really enjoy yourself. Make sure you take the time out to tell your mums or loved ones how much they mean to you!

Year 2 trip to the sea life.

This week Year 2 went to the sea life centre to learn more about animals that live under the sea. We got to see many different creatures in their natural habitats and learn lots of interesting facts about them.

For example, did you know that a sea horse can change colour to adapt to it’s surroundings and hide from predators?

Did you know that an octopus has three hearts and it’s blood is blue?

Year 2 had a wonderful time and despite having to walk in the freezing conditions, they were very well behaved and the experience was fantastic.

Jigsaw – Year 2

We started today’s jigsaw lesson with the Calm Me exercise to prepare ourselves to learn.

Then we sat in a circle and played a game called ‘Switch’. A statement was read out which applied to more than one child in the circle. Those children then switched places with each other allowing them to see what they have in common with each other.

During the Open My Mind section, we showed pictures of children’s duvet covers. We then labelled second of the classroom as Boys, Girls and Both. The children had to move the label they think the duvet belongs to.

Jigsaw – Year 1

Last Thursday we started our jigsaw lesson with the Calm Me exercise to prepare ourselves to learn.

We then played the corner game. In one corner of the class we wrote Yes and in the other class we wrote No. A statement was read out such as “I like pizza”, and then children then went to either side of the room. This showed the number of differences between children.

The children were shown two pictures that had similarities. This allowed the children to focus on what is the same rather than focusing on differences.

Wool and sticks at Forest School :)

This week during our Forest School session I showed the children how to make bracelets using a special method apparently used by the vikings.  It takes lots of concentration and good co-ordination.  You need to work with a partner. I was really impressed with how the children helped each other and worked together.

We also made God’s Eyes, they originate from Brazil where people  believe they will help to protect them.

Year 5 RE

Our RE topic this half term is Salvation. We are learning about Easter and the importance it holds for Christians. We began by sequencing the stations

of the cross using art work and discussed Christ’s journey. We wrote a paragraph to explain the role of Jesus in the Easter story and how this is reflected in the stations of the cross.

Jigsaw – Year 4

Everyone, including the adults took part the Calm me activity to help make sure we’re ready to learn.

We then shared an optical illusion with the children (young /old lady). The children were to look at the picture them describe what they see.

We then took part in Tell me or show me. The children were shown a picture of a dog. The chosen them wore down two words to describe their reaction to the picture. We discussed how everyone has a different reaction.
