We showed the children two pictures and asked which one is the bully. The first picture was of a big bully-looking character, the second was of a 5-6 year old. This showed a bully doesn’t have to look a particular way.
In Connect us, the children played Huggy bears. When the teacher called out “Huggy heard – three” children hugged each other in groups of three. This reinforced how it feels to be part of a group.
For Tell me or show me, the children had to share their ideas on what they thought a bully is like. All the children had student ideas on what bullying is.
This week year 5 discussed and identified different behaviours which might be bullying.
They discussed and shared the different kinds of bullying and explained how they are different. They were able to understand that bullying isn’t something that happens once rather time and time again and that it is deliberate.
They shared what action they should take if they see or experience behaviour which they think might be bullying.
In Year 1 we have been learning about the different weather which is associated with each season. We have looked at different tools that measure the weather. This week we have made rain gauges to measure how much rainfall we have in a week.
We have been learning the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We used our story map and came up with actions to re-tell the story off by heart. We have been innovating our stories and this week we are going to write the story using our new ideas.
Yesterday in Year 4, all the children and adults sat in a circle and went through the Calm Me script to prepare ourselves for learning.
In Connect us, the children played ‘Switch’. Statements were read out and children had to switch places if they agreed with any of them or had experienced anything similar.
In Tell me or show me, the children were shown a clip about bullying. They were asked what they would do if they knew someone who was been bullied.

Yesterday the children were asked to complete stem sentences and disabilities. This made the children appreciate what disabled people have to go through.
They were then shown a clip about twin brothers who both have cerebral palsy. The children the reflected on how theoretical disability affected their daily lives. The children were then asked to write a list of questions regarding their disability.
Yesterday the children were told a scenario about a girl moving to a new school. She doesn’t really have any friends and another group of girls are being horrible to her. The girl then starts to receive nasty text messages and starts to feel lonely and sad.
In groups of two, the children are asked whether or not they feel she is being bullied or not? And why? We emphasised that bullying is not just physical but can also be verbal. It can happen online and in person.
On Monday, Year 4 visited the Think Tank to learn about the human body and the digestive system.
We took part in a workshop were we explored and discussed different parts of our bodies. We started by identifying our teeth and discussed how to keep them clean and healthy. We learnt about a healthy balanced diet and organised different items of food into the 5 key groups made up of carbohydrates, protein, milk and dairy product, fruit and vegetables and sugar and fats.
We learn that the digestive system is a pretty important part of our body. Without it, we couldn’t get the nutrients we need to grow properly and stay healthy. Next time we sit down to lunch, we’ll know exactly where our food goes from start to finish!
In the afternoon, we discovered the different areas of the science museum and we were even lucky enough to play in the fascinating science garden.
