Year 4 have been getting ready for our Easter celebration. We have created 3D Easter cards and written Acrostic poems about Christian values.
Forest School 2nd and 4th April
On Tuesday it was the younger children’s turn to toast marshmallows. The children were all able to recall the ways to keep safe and what to do in an emergency. We learnt about the fire triangle. This tells us the three things a fire needs to stay burning. If you find out what the three things are come and find me to tell me!
On Thursday the weather was cold, windy and wet. So, we made a shelter and drank hot chocolate to keep warm. I was really impressed with the way the children worked together.
Thinking about the special people who look after us!
In year 2 we have been busy preparing for Mother’s Day. We have been learning lots of songs, in preparation for the Mothers’s Day assembly, thanking our mum’s for all the wonderful ways they help us. We made some beautiful cards by sketching Spring daffodils and carefully colouring them in using watercolours. As a class we discussed ways that we could thank people who look after us and thought of simple gestures as ways to show our appreciation.
Year 1’s trip to Wing Yip
As part of our Topic ‘Where in the world’ we have been exploring different places in the world. We have looked at animals, sports and food from different continents. Year 1 visited Wing Yip to find out what food people in East Asia would eat. We bought some tasty spring rolls, crispy prawn crackers and some delicious lychee and mango juice. We had a great time and will enjoy tasting the yummy food!
st. clement’s stay and play
This week we welcomed Bhuitena, Ibrahim and Suhaib to our session.
The children played and explored together, as well as, joining in at song time with two of our favourite rhymes.
Due to the Easter break Stay and Play will return Wednesday 1st May 2019.
Science – Year 5
This week in science the children looked at different insects and their body parts. They had the opportunity to explore the body parts and identify the similarities and differences between the different insects. Take a look at some of the amazing diagrams the children have put together of their chosen insect.
Toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate :)
Our wishes for dry weather without any wind came true and we were able to have a fire this week 🙂
The children really enjoyed toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate around the fire.
Happy Mother’s Day from Nursery
Nursery have made lovely cards for their mummies this week. We used potatoes to make tulip prints then tried our best to write our name inside.
On Friday we performed a song in the Mother’s Day assembly. We got a bit nervous and didn’t sing as loud as we usually do but everyone enjoyed it.

Year 4 Maths problem
We have been working systematically to solve a maths problems using our knowledge of multiplication and division.
The problem was:
In the forest there is a Deca Tree. A Deca Tree has 10 trunks, and on each trunk there are 10 branches, and on each branch there are 10 twigs, and on each twig there are 10 leaves. One day a woodcutter came along and cut down one trunk from the tree.
Then he cut off one branch from another trunk of the tree.
Then he cut off one twig from another branch.
Finally he pulled one leaf from another twig.
How many leaves were left on the tree then?
There are 10 leaves per twig
There are 10 twigs per branch
10 leaves x 10 twigs = 100 leaves per branch
There are 10 branches per trunk
100 leaves x 10 branches = 1000 leaves per trunk
There are 10 trunks per tree
1000 leaves x 10 trunks = 10 000 leaves on the tree
Cut off one trunk: 10 000 – 1000 = 9000 leaves left
Cut off one branch: 9000 – 100 = 8900 leaves left
Cut off one twig: 8900 – 10 = 8890 leaves left
Pull off one leaf: 8890 – 1 = 8889 leaves left
There are 8889 leaves left on the tree.
Mother’s Day Assembly – Reception
Thank you to all the mums, aunties, grandmas and carers who attended our Mother’s Day assembly today. Reception really enjoyed painting pictures of their mummies and talking about why they love them. They practised really hard with the singing over the past two weeks. We hoped you enjoyed it!
