We have continued to explore how colours can be changed. Linking our work to the story The Blue Balloon by Mick Inkpen.
Using balloons to paint, we have looked at light and dark shades mixing black and white to blue again watching as the shades mix. We are becoming colour experts.
We have also been looking at repeated patterns using shape and colour to make then continue a pattern.
On Monday afternoon we had a drumming session with a man called Tim . We all really enjoyed it and followed instructions really well. Mrs Shakespeare and Mrs Cooper were very proud of everyone in Nursery.
The European Cup football tournament is the theme behind our Father’s Day Cards. Happy Father’s Day everyone!
On Friday we went to Windley Leisure Centre for our sports day. We had a great time .Well done everyone! You all tried your very best. we are really proud of you.
This week Reception had a visit from a beachcomber, all the way from a seaside resort called Bonnie Cove. Pearl the beachcomber invited us to Bonnie Cove to help her search for hidden treasures in the sand. We helped her dig and sieve the sand and found all sorts of different things; gems, shells, and even diamonds!

We then met another person hiding at Bonnie Cove her name was Nori, but she could not speak the same language as us. She told us her story of how she ended up at Bonnie Cove.

Reception had to get their clever brains working to think of different ways for Pearl and Nori to become friends. The children thought of so many lovely ways for Pearl and Nori to communicate.
Year 2 got the opportunity to play a range of different instruments such as drums, tambourines and shakers. They learnt a song called ‘I love fish and chips!’ The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and are looking forward to learning more songs in the classroom!
This week Green class took part in a drumming workshop. By working together as a class we were able to play a series of different rhythms on the instruments. Everyone had a turn at playing all of the instruments. By the end of the session, we all understood the importance of watching our conductor closely so that we all started and finished at the correct time.
A selection of Year 6 children worked hard together to create a large ‘Elma The Elephant’ image and decorated the elephant with colourful tissue paper to make the image vibrant and to add texture. Elm along with other great artwork from other classes in the school will be added to our St. Clement’s Academy Book Bench. We are looking forward to seeing the final product.
Last week Year 2 went on a class trip to Kenilworth Castle. This term out topic is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets.
At Kenilworth Castle we investigated the castle, finding evidence that it was once a home for many people. We had a fantastic day out. A big thank you to all the parents and carers that came and supported us on the day!
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Aston University competing in the Aston Olympics. They took part in lots of different sports including football, bench ball, gym session, obstacle course and water polo. The classes favourite sport was water polo.
We were presented with a certificate for the school and one each to keep.
This week Green class have been required to help Starsmooth International create a brand new smoothie. During the half term Miss Groom replied to an advert for help to research current smoothie flavours on the market, find out children’s favourite fruits and produce a new smoothie variety from this research.
Here’s some of what we got up to during the week. We had great fun and some us have found that although we don’t like eating fruit; we can still get one portion of our 5 a day by drinking one 125ml serving of a no added sugar fruit smoothie.

Today in Year 4 we had a visit from Aston fire fighters. They taught us all about fire safety and how to spot fire hazards in our homes. We also learnt the safest route to leave our house if there is a fire and what to do if we hear our smoke alarm going off. We learnt that fire fighters have to wear special clothes to keep themselves protected from the fire. Some children were lucky enough to try on the special uniform.
The message to remember is ‘Get out, stay out, call out!’
In RE this half term, year 1 are learning all about Hanukkah, which is a Jewish celebration. To start our learning, we spent this week’s RE lesson learning about different types of celebrations and how people celebrate.
After looking at different celebrations we had a special visitor and we used what we had learnt to help them celebrate their birthday. Can you guess who our visitor was from the pictures below?
