This week Reception have been reading the story ‘The Little Red Hen’. We watched a video clip of other children performing Talk for Writing of The Little Red Hen. Then we made up our own actions to match the words. The children have worked really hard to learn the words of the story and remember the actions. Some children even made their own story maps and labelled them! Next week, we are looking forward to making bread just like the little red hen did. Hopefully we will have lots of helping hands.

Reception’s visit from the school nurse
This week, we had the school nurse visit to talk to Reception about hand washing. We learnt all about why it is important to was our hands and when we need to. The nurse showed us how to wash our hands carefully so all the germs are gone. The children are now great at washing their hands and keeping clean!
Reception’s Easter Week
It has been another busy week in Reception. We started the week with the shining stars assembly. Well done to the children who received an award! All the children are making amazing progress. The children who had 100% attendance received a badge and got to watch a film as a special treat.
Reception have looked at the Easter story and enjoyed going to the church on Thursday for our special Easter service. The children did really well as they walked to the church and back very sensibly.
We hope you all enjoy a lovely break!

Another fun filled week in Reception!
This week Reception have looked at the story ‘Dear Zoo’, The children made actions to go with the story and can retell the story really well. We explored the different zoo animals and found out information from books. This week some children made puppets to act out their own stories with – lots of children made fairies and told great fairy stories! We have also been preparing for Mother’s Day. We made cards and did a special assembly for them. Thank you for all the mom’s that attended today. We hope you enjoyed it.
Reception are becoming healthy!
This week, Reception have been learning all about how to be healthy. We read the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and discussed whether the food he ate was healthy. We have also learnt about the days of the week, singing lots of songs to help us remember them. The children have also been doing some fantastic writing! They have been independently writing stories about superheros, power rangers and frozen! The children have then read them out to their class and chosen characters to act them out.

Reception’s book share with Year 5
Today as part of Book Week, Reception had the opportunity to share their favourite books with some children from Year 5. The children really enjoyed talking about their books and listening to Year 5 read to them. We were very lucky to have Mrs Hall read a story to all of us. Reception then shared the Sally Grindley book ‘Shh!’ that we had been looking at this week to year 5.
Gingerbread Man on the loose!
This week in Reception we received a letter from the little old lady asking us to look after the Gingerbread Man whilst she was on holiday. We tried our best but he just keep on running away from us shouting “run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”. We decided to make missing posters to spread the news that he had ran away. Luckily, we found him on Friday and he brought us some delicious treats to say sorry for running away.
Reception’s craft afternoon
This afternoon, Reception were very pleased and excited to have their parents visit them in their class. The children carried out a variety of activities including making Christmas cards, counting Christmas objects, colouring in, and painting their salt dough tree decorations. We had lots of fun and would like to thank those parents that joined us.
Reception’s trip to Ash End Farm
On Friday, Reception were lucky enough to visit Ash End House Farm. The children really enjoyed their visit and learn lots of new things. We saw lots of different farm animals which we got to feed and hold. However, the most exciting part of our day was meeting Santa and his reindeer. The children each had a photo with Santa and received a present. After a busy morning the children went into the play area and did lots of bouncing on the bouncy pillow!
