This week, the children have been talking about what they would like for Christmas. They have been writing lists and posting them ready to send off to Santa. Next week we will be visiting Ash End Farm where we hope to see Santa and his reindeer! We have also been learning songs for our nativity which is on 13th December at 9.15am.

This week, Reception held a phonics meeting for parents. We were really happy that lots of parents came to join us and were very engaged. We hope that it was beneficial and that it will help your child enjoy reading as much as we do!

On Tuesday, Reception went on a trip to Sutton Park. We have been learning all about autumn and noticing the changes that occur. During our trip, we explored different areas of the park looking out for autumn things. We collected different coloured leaves, pine cones, sticks, conkers and much more! We did an activity where we matched up colours and objects. The children had a fantastic time and can’t wait for the next trip!

This week, Reception have done lots of exploring through play. Some children were going on a bus, then going to a funfair and the cinema, whilst others were making stairs for a slinky! We’ve been exploring conkers and making lots of beats with various musical instruments.

In Reception, we have been reading the story ‘Owl Babies’. The children have really enjoyed the story and role playing with the different characters. We even wrote and read sentences from the book! Our favourite sentence was “I want my mommy!”

This week, we have been learning about autumn. We have discussed the changes that occur outside and found out about different autumn animals. The children have been interested in hedgehogs and learning about hibernation.  Some children even made a hedgehog house!

This week we have read the story of The Gruffalo. We have acted out the story in lots of different ways. We learnt a Gruffalo song and made some fantastic Gruffalo masks and stick puppets.
