Story Scribing in Reception!

This week, the children have been particularly interested in writing stories!

The teachers have written the stories that the children have told them and lots of children have written stories all by themselves!

We have also been acting out the children’s own stories as a whole class.
We have some amazing storytellers and actors/actresses in Reception!

Handa’s Surprise!

This week we have been reading the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’. The children really enjoyed reading this book and creating story maps and writing all about it.

We spoke about our favourite fruits and tasted some! We tried pineapple and avocado and mango!

Some of the children created their own story maps!

Reading Together

Today in Reception we held our first Reading Together session. We will continue to do this session every Friday.
It is a chance for parents and carers to read to their child and change their library book.
Thank you to everyone who came along today. The children absolutely loved it!

We hope to see you again next Friday.

Mother’s Day

Thank you to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and everyone else who came to our Mother’s Day assembly.

The Reception children really enjoyed singing the songs and loved painting pictures of their mums!

We hope you all had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day in Reception

Last week we did lots of work around Mother’s Day. The children all said why they love their mum and painted fabulous pictures of their mums. They also made cards and learnt songs to sing for our assembly.

Thank you to all the mothers, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, and everyone else who attend our celebration on Friday.

We would like to say a special thank you to Mrs Ali for making the delicious cakes!

We hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Shrove Tuesday in EYFS!

On Tuesday Reception and Nursery spoke about the importance of Shrove Tuesday to Christians. We decorated and tasted pancakes with different toppings including jam, butter and golden syrup. Mr Ricketts lead an assembly about Ash Wednesday marking the start of Lent. From this the children spoke about things adults and children may give up during  Lent and what we could do instead.

Road Safety Workshop

On Tuesday Reception and Nursery had a visit from Paul to talk about the importance of being safe on the road. This included how to be safe when in a car, on a bike and when crossing roads. The children learnt about different types of crossings including pelican and zebra. They learnt that they have to hold hands with an adult and to keep checking left and right to see when it is safe to cross. Paul demonstrated the importance of sitting in a child seat and to always wear a seat-belt. The children also learnt about the need to wear a helmet when riding a bike. The children would like to thank Paul for teaching us all about road safety!

Make sure you all stay safe on the road!
