Jigsaw – Year 5

Year 5
Changing
Looking ahead to year 6
Shared ‘The jigsaw charter’ with the children to reinforce how we work together.
Calm me
At the beginning of every jigsaw lesson we help our minds calm down so that we are ready to learn.
Sitting in a circle, using Jigsaw Jez as the talking object, children had to complete the stem sentence:’ one thing I am really looking forward to in year 6 is…
Working in groups of four the children agreed on four changes they are looking forward to when they go to year 6. On their spinning top cube template, they wrote changes on the four sides of the cube. This was then cut out and made into a spinning top using a pencil as the spindle.

Jigsaw – Year 2

Changing me

Calm me
At the beginning of every jigsaw lesson we help our minds calm down so that we are ready to learn.
Children sat in a circle and asked them in pairs to tell each other anything they have been told about what they were like as a baby, and how they are different now compared with when they were a baby or toddler. Then we passed jigsaw Jo round the circle and asked each child to complete one of these sentence stems, taking each one in turn: ‘when I was a baby I could…; ‘ Now I am a 6/7 years old I can…; ‘When I am grown up I will be able to…;
Read the story ‘ Titch’ discussed how Titch felt about being the youngest and smallest. What happened to his tiny seed? So what happens to all living things that start out tiny?

Warwick Castle adventures

On Tuesday, Year 2 went on an adventure to Warwick Castle as part of our topic about Castles.

As soon as we got there, we were overwhelmed with how tall the castle was. There were tall, winding towers and strong, stone walls surrounding the grounds. We had such a fun time exploring all of the different parts of the castle and the children were very well behaved.

While we were there, we explore the 500 steps to the top of the tower where we could see over the whole of Warwick. We also saw a massive trebuchet fling a rock over the castle walls, an amazing archer demonstrate his fantastic aim and we even saw a very clever eagle show off it’s flying skills.

We had such a fantastic day!

Jigsaw – Year 1

Year 1
Shared ‘The jigsaw charter’ with the children to reinforce how we work together.
Calm me
At the beginning of every jigsaw lesson we help our minds calm down so that we are ready to learn.
Carrying on from last week children had to stand and arrange themselves in a row from the tallest to the shortest. What does this show us? We all grow at different rates. Explained that in the next lesson we are going to look at some other important differences in the way we grow.
We did circle time and shared more baby pictures and talked about how much we have changed since being a baby to now.

Eid Mubarak!

Last week, Year 2 performed a fantastic class assembly. We had been learning all about Islam in R.E and we have learned lots about Ramadan and the festival of Eid – Ul -Fitr.

The children dressed up and told a story about a boy called Ibrahim, who was fasting for the first time. They told the story about how he had learned from his readings of the Qu’ran and was thankful for what he had.

The children were confident and comfortable on stage and delivered a fantastic assembly! Well done Year 2!

year 5 staying safe

On Thursday, year 5 had a visit from the nurse with important information. They learnt all about the dangers of alcohol, smoking and drugs and joined in a discussion about how to avoid peer pressure and stay safe. It was a very informative session and the children had lots of questions for the nurse.

Sports day!

Year 1 really enjoyed sports day! We took part in a range of activities such as archery, football, netball and rounders. We also took part in an assault course which we all loved! We all received gold medals because we are all winners!
