Year 6 Preparation

Next week Year 6 are taking their SATs tests. The children have been preparing themselves and  working extremely hard. Over  the weekend the children should relax, do something nice and above all not be stressed. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

We wish the children good luck  and know they will try their very best. Don’t  forget the breakfast club on Monday.

Hunting for trees!

In Year 1, we have been learning about the different types of trees. We went on a tree hunt and explored the different leaves each tree has. We now know the scientific names that we can sort trees into. We know that the trees that the leaves fall off and grow again are called deciduous and that evergreen trees, the leaves stay green all year round!

What trees can you find?

Jigsaw – Year 4

Shared ‘The jigsaw charter’ with the children to reinforce how we work together.
Calm me
At the beginning of every jigsaw lesson we help our minds calm down so that we are ready to learn.
In pairs children had to discuss and write down as many reasons as they can, think of why they may no longer see someone you know. e.g family member who lives abroad, friends who moved away, people who have died etc we then shared the examples the children have thought of.
Read the book ‘badgers parting gifts’ and asked questions about the story. Gently discussed the feelings that the children had about the story.

Got the children to work together so they could learn to come to one decision as there is no right way of doing this.
Then invited the children to write a feeding on a post it to describe how the person might be feeling in that situation.

Once he children have placed themselves in response to each state I asked a few children to explain why they are standing where they are.

Forest School week beginning 30th April

We have had two really busy sessions this week.

Learning how to tie a clove hitch knot.  It was tricky but it was great to see the perseverance of the children and lovely to see them helping each other.

A perfect clove hitch 🙂
