Year 4 – The Roman Empire

On Monday afternoon, we started our new topic about Romans. We used an atlas to find the 7 different continents of the world.  Using our new knowledge about the Roman Empire we labelled a map of Europe and the countries the Roman Empire invaded. We couldn’t believe how many countries the Roman Empire invaded!

Year 3 and 4 PSHE

The children have been learning about rules and how they keep us safe. They have been able to relate this idea to areas of their own life and, in Year 3,  they have been able to identify people in the community who help keep them safe.

Article 41
If a country has laws and standards that
go further than the present Convention,
then the country must keep these laws.

PHSE – Year 4

Today in year 4 we talked about different rules that we have, we discussed what the rules were on the playground, walking into assembly, crossing the road and driving. children had to complete the sheet in pairs of all the different rules. Children worked well.

Potions – Year 4

Our topic for this half term is Potions. We started by looking at different fantasy creatures in our literacy lessons. Then we designed our own fantasy creatures and explained how they used their magical powers.

We thought about something magical that we wanted to be able to do, for example, fly like an phoenix, grow as tall as a giant, run as fast as a unicorn, or become as strong as a troll.

We created a potion using a variety of magical ingredients, such as:

  • Fairy dust
  • Magical seeds
  • Unicorns’ tears
  • Dragons’ blood
  • Dried beetles
  • Trolls’ slime
  • Baby snakes
  • Squirrels’ brain
  • Lizards’ tongue
  • Witches toe nails

We had a great time making our potions!
