kenilworth Castle (Year 2)

Last week Year 2 went on a class trip to Kenilworth Castle. This term out topic is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets.
At Kenilworth Castle we investigated the castle, finding evidence that it was once a home for many people. We had a fantastic day out. A big thank you to all the parents and carers that came and supported us on the day!
Hope you enjoy looking at the photographs!

The Selfish Giant (Year 2)

On Monday, year 1 and year 2 watched a performance of The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde. It was a participatory drama to stimulate language and learning of children. It gave the children the opportunity to engage verbally, contribute ideas and consider moral dilemmas.  The children also developed their confidence in speaking in different contexts.

Christian Aid/ Maths Week (Year 2)

This week is Christian Aid and Maths week.

Year 2 have  been learning about the ways that Christian Aid have helped communities in Sierra Leone. We learned how it helped the whole community to grow stronger and build respect for each other.

We read the Bible verse:

‘Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance’ 1 Corinthians 13:7.

We reflected on what it means and how it relates to Christian Aid and the things we have found out.

On Thursday, we had a fantastic parent workshop. We have been learning about co-ordinates. Our parents helped us to read co-ordinates and plot co-ordinates. We created our own pirate treasure maps. We also played Battleships!

Year 2 Celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday!

On Thursday 21st April we had a fun-filled day celebrating the  Queen’s 90th birthday.

In the morning, we carefully made Union Jack kites.  We also enjoyed making our own cheese and jam sandwiches, ready to eat at the tea party. In the afternoon, we couldn’t wait to fly our kites! We were really careful not to bump into each other.

We had a really exciting day.  Many children said that it was ‘The best day ever!’
