Year 1 – Bad Moods

Today in PHSE children had to think about a time when they were in a bad mood and then as a whole class we discussed it. Children had to write words that describe how they feel when they’re in a bad mood.
We then discussed what their family or friends have done to make them feel better.
Children had to write down sentences about how their bad moods affect their friends and family.

Year 1 – Feeling Scared

In Year 1 today children had to get into small groups with a sheet of paper that says ‘scared’ in the middle. Children had to write down all the words that come to mind when they think of the word ‘scared’.
I then had to write all the related words to ‘scared’ that the children thought of on the white board and asked them when and if they have ever experienced any of them.

Year 2 – Rules and Staying Safe

In Year 2 we talked about rules and signs and why we have them. I explained to the children that we have rules and signs to keep us safe. I asked the children what are the safety rules at home, outside, holidays and at school.
Children had to do an interactive activity ‘safety signs’ . Children then had to complete it in pairs and discussed in pairs what each sign meant.

PHSE – Feeling Safe

In Year 1 today children had to recall a time when they felt really safe. Children had to sit in a circle and ask them one by one to pick out a feeling card from the feelings bag. I then asked the children to relate feeling to a safe or unsafe situation. Children worked really well.

Year 6 – Feelings

In year 6 we discussed our own early warning signs and when we get them. What are our emotional and physical feelings?  and what feeling safe feels like, so when we don’t feel safe our bodies tell us by giving us physical early warning signs like Dot’s butterflies in her stomach.
