The Dot Com characters

During PSHE , the children looked at the characters from their Dot Com journals. They began to identify what they liked about each character and how the characters showed kindness to others. Wizard the dog, Slam’s dad, who is a firefighter and PC P. Bonnet, who is a police officer, were some of the children’s favourites.  Looking at these characters helped the children to discuss who helps them and the training some people have to go through to do their job. The children agreed PSHE is part of their training in managing their feelings and making positive choices.

Next week, we will be looking at what makes us special.

COMMUNITY SAFETY

The School Council met this week to discuss the safety within the community. We have decided to contact the local police, in the hope they will support us in applying for speed bumps along Butlin Street. Thank you to all the people who have signed the petition in the school office, every name helps! If you would like to sign a petition see a member of the School Council, or see the staff in the main school office.

As part of our community work we have decided to carry out a community litter pick. This will help keep Nechells tidy and make our streets safe. We hope to carry this out soon, so watch this space!

Over the spring term, the school council have been looking at safety within the community. This lead to many discussions surrounding road safety and it was agreed that the children would apply for speed bumps along Butlin Street. After working with Trevor Billingham and contacting the local council the children have been left with no choice, but to petition for the speed bumps. Please support the school council by signing the petition, which can be found in the school office. By supporting the children on this venture you will be helping to keep the Nechells and St Clement’s community safe.

The school council have also been busy tasting the new school lunch menus. The council worked with Aspens, who provide our school meals, on deciding the dishes that would be served through out the summer term.
