During Maths week we made biscuits and sold them at our fair to raise money for Christian Aid. We used grid method to scale up the recipe and we worked to a budget. We practice fractions by finding fractions of amounts and fractions of shapes. We used this knowledge to ice fractions of our biscuits. We sold our biscuits for 30p each or four for £1.
Year 4 made telephones with two cups and a piece of string to investigate how sound travels. We discovered that if the string was loose we could not hear each other, but if the string was taut we could, even around corners.
As part of our Playlist topic we are studying art inspired by music. We listened to four pieces of music and discussed how it made us feel and the pictures it put in our minds. We chose different materials to create shapes and patterns inspired by the music.
On Thursday 21st April St.Clement’s celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday. In the morning Year 4 had great fun taking part in a circus workshop. We also enjoyed making our own sandwiches, which we ate at our tea party. At the end of the day we received a precious coin from Mr Ricketts to help us remember the special day.
