Year 3 computing we started off by getting all the children to independently log on to their user name and password, which they used for the first time. We then discussed with the whole class on what we are going to be doing in computing this term and getting them ready for their first lesson on coding.

Year 3
In Computing we started off by getting all the children to independently log on to their user name and password, which they used for the first time. We then discussed with the whole class on what we are going to be doing in computing this term and getting them ready for their first lesson on coding.
Year 4
Today in computing the children created a script that creates buttons that draw different shapes when clicked.
First week in Nursery
The new Nursery children have made an amazing start at St Clements. It has been a pleasure to start to get to know them and see them playing confidently in all areas of EYFS.
Natural play and Forest Schools area
You may have noticed some changes at the end of the playground over the summer. The area is being developed in to a natural play and Forest Schools area. The children have already been making full use of the area, as you can see by these photos.
A warning story in Year 5.
This half term, Year 5 are writing warning stories. To help with this, there has been a lot of drama, exploring characters , reading warning stories and talking as they get to know the text. Today, children worked in groups to act out the story, using a narrator to add their descriptions. I am sure their written work next week will reflect the hard work they have put in.
Reception’s First Week
Our new Reception children have been in this week exploring their new environment. They have been learning about our rules and routines at school and have engaged in lots of play.

Time travelling and archaeology
This week Year 3 took a trip back in time and became archaeologists for the day. In the morning we looked at how we find out about the past from the artefacts left behind. Year 3 had to work together and be very gentle to excavate the artefacts from the sand.After brushing them clean , we had to decide whether they were from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age or another time period. Once we had done this we set up our museum display in chronological order.
In the afternoon we had the chance to experience what it might be like to live as a hunter-gatherer. We made an arrow using a flint arrow head, a stick and some string. Next we had a go at making flour from seeds, this was hard work and took over an hour and a half to get less than half a cup of flour fine enough to use. We also had the chance to weave and use a spindle to spin wool. Our last activity was to make a bracelet using animal teeth and beads. Year 3 were able to take their bracelets home 🙂
We had a great day experiencing life as it might possibly have been back in the Stone Age period.
Mixing things up!
This week we have continued our Muck, Mess and Mixtures topic.
In class we have been exploring how water mixes with different materials.
We found out that salt dissolves in water, oil and water separate, squash becomes diluted in water and flour makes water get thicker.
The children loved playing with the materials and observing the changes before them.
Ask your child to explain what they were doing using their new vocabulary! Also see what other materials in your house might change in water.
Does sugar dissolve in water? Does lemonade dilute in water?
Electrical Celebrations
In Year 6 this term we are making electrical circuits to light up our designs based around our topic Frozen Kingdom. This week we investigated what made a complete circuit and built our own. We were able to draw our circuits using the correct scientific symbols.
Zog in Year 1
This half term in Year 1, we will be exploring an author called Julia Donaldson. She has written amazing stories such as ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Room on the Broom’. The first focus book we have chosen is the story called ‘Zog’. We have enjoyed learning to recite the story off by heart using actions.
