What a fantastic day! Y3 have taken part in a whole school sports event at the Sports Hub. The day started with tennis, then onto rounders and indoor games before lunch! After lunch it was cricket, boxing and football.
Medals were awarded at each activity to children demonstrating positive sporting behaviours and putting in 100% effort – even when the task was difficult.
Take a look at some of our proud medalists in Y3 🙂
After reading the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ last week, Reception have worked together to make bread rolls this week. We looked at the ingredients we needed, wrote shopping lists, and read through the instructions. After they were cooked, we shared them out between us and they were delicious!
Here are some photos of us making and eating them:
Year 4 had a problem to solve in science this week. How could we make the light bulb light up? With only a battery, a bulb and two wires, we had to investigate how to make light. We discovered that it was important how we connected the battery and that the wires had to make a complete circuit. Next week, we are going to take this investigation further. Is there anything else we could use instead of a battery to make the bulb light up?
In Year 2 I introduced the Dot Com characters again and as a class we talked about our family compositions and who we all live with at home.
In Year 1 we talked about what people do to get ready in the morning, at home time and before bed. I chose scenarios that encourage children to be self-aware and take responsibility for themselves
Every child has the right to think and believe what they want and to practice their are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights. governments must respect the rights of parents to give their children information about this right.
Due to article 14 children can express themselves. All children have the right to believe what they want and to have their religion respected by everyone as long as it does not stop others from enjoying their rights.
Their are lots of different religions: Christianity, Islam, Non-religion, Hinduism, Chinese and Buddhism. Governments must do all they can to make sure that children have their religions respected by all.
This week in Year 3 the children have looked at how to keep themselves safe. Children had to look at their helping hand and were reminded who they can talk to if they are worried or concerned. To help the children remember who they could talk to they completed the relevant pages from their Dot Com journals.
Year 6 – Separation
In Year 6 we talked about how to deal with separation. We discussed what might happen if a family becomes divided, how might members of the family feel about this? We also looked at who they can talk to in this situation completing their journals as we went along.
Year 4 have been learning some new cooking skills in after school club. They have been learning how to chop safely and this week they made spicy traffic light rice and Braziilan Quorn Picadillo.
They really enjoyed this. Please find attached the recipes for this week and last week.
To continue our learning about the plague in the 14th century, Year 5 have been studying illuminated manuscripts. These were books, mainly written by monks, that were heavily decorated. The decorations included intricately painted initials, borders and small images. Some of these books were even painted with real gold or silver as they were that special!
We designed our initial in the style of an illuminated manuscripts.
This week Reception have been reading the story ‘The Little Red Hen’. We watched a video clip of other children performing Talk for Writing of The Little Red Hen. Then we made up our own actions to match the words. The children have worked really hard to learn the words of the story and remember the actions. Some children even made their own story maps and labelled them! Next week, we are looking forward to making bread just like the little red hen did. Hopefully we will have lots of helping hands.
