Year 1’s trip to Wing Yip

As part of our Topic ‘Where in the world’ we have been exploring different places in the world. We have looked at animals, sports and food from different continents. Year 1 visited Wing Yip to find out what food people in East Asia would eat. We bought some tasty spring rolls, crispy prawn crackers and some delicious lychee and mango juice. We had a great time and will enjoy tasting the yummy food!

Year 6 Residential

Year 6 Residential
A group off Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to attend a one night residential, supported by our friends at Holford Drive Sports Hub. The children and staff arrived at the Hub after school on Friday. The first activity had the children working together and communicating in a variety of ‘Team Building Games’. The children then took part in a workshop looking at social issues effecting young people today, delivered by Colvin White, who is part of the Birmingham Safeguarding Board. Pizza and chips were enjoyed by all for tea, as well as Pancakes and Toast the next morning. The children also had the opportunity to participate in Dodge Ball, Table Tennis, PS4 Competitions and not forgetting, football, outside in the dark! All the children had a great time and we look forward to our next trip.

” It was so much fun. I really want to come again.” Year 6 Pupil.

PCSO visits to Year 3

Our local PCSOs Robbie and Louise have been in class over the last two weeks to talk about the importance of safety. Year 3 were very enthusiastic in their discussions with Robbie about staying safe both online and in the community. He talked about the importance of crossing the road safely and reminded Year 3 of what to do if lost in a public place. Year 3 discovered that not all strangers are good strangers and that if lost they should speak to a police officer or PCSO.

When Louise visited, she talked further about staying safe online. She reminded Year 3 that lots of games, apps and websites have age restrictions for a good reasons – not all content is age appropriate and so to be careful about what they are looking at online.

Well done to the children of Year 3 for being official photographers too!
